Summer Reading Challenge: Sumter School District is partnering with Sumter County Library to beat the summer slide by challenging all students to read for at least 20 minutes a day. On average, students lose two to three months of learning over the summer. Beat this summer slide by engaging in reading all summer long. Use the hashtags below to snap a picture of your child reading and share to our Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram page. Read on to discover more ways to have fun reading this summer!

Important Covid-19 Updates – March, 2022
SSD Link: https://sumterschools.net/2021-22backtoschool/covid-19-updates/
Sumter School District is suspending contact tracing and close contact quarantine practices as of Thursday, March 10, 2022. This change in procedure is in accordance with the recently updated COVID-19 Guidelines issued by SCDHEC on February 2, 2022. Data from the last two weeks indicates that no district schools or locations have had 10 percent or more of their students or staff absent due to COVID-19.
The attached SCDHEC guidelines will remain in effect unless the school or district location has 10 percent or more of students and staff absent due to COVID-19. If this 10 percent threshold is met or exceeded for two consecutive weeks, the contact tracing and quarantine requirements will have to be reinstated.
It is important to note that any student or staff member who tests positive for COVID-19 or displays symptoms is still required to stay home from school and should report positive test results to their school.

Parents are reminded to not drop students off before 6:50 a.m. For student’s safety, parents are reminded not to drop their child off in the grassy area across the street from the school on Fulton Street. During pick-up, all car riders will be dismissed through the gate under the breezeway using their car number. Each student will be provided with numbered car tags and book bag tags. Parents arriving without a car tag number will be asked to go into the office to have their credentials verified. Parents will not be allowed to walk up to the car pick up gate to retrieve students, and students will not be permitted to cross Fulton street to walk to their rides, for safety is our number one priority. How can my child get a district-issued Chromebook?
• Sumter School District’s One-to-Global initiative provides a technology device for each student in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.
• Students and parents without a district-issued Chromebook may check one out during scheduled dates at their child’s home school.
• Students who are having issues with technology will be provided with avenues to contact the school media specialist or Chromebook manager for technical support. This will include issues with internet, applications, software, and technology tools.
