Sumter School District is suspending contact tracing and close contact quarantine practices as of Thursday, March 10, 2022. This change in procedure is in accordance with the recently updated COVID-19 Guidelines issued by SCDHEC on February 2, 2022. Data from the last two weeks indicates that no district schools or locations have had 10 percent or more of their students or staff absent due to COVID-19.
The attached SCDHEC guidelines will remain in effect unless the school or district location has 10 percent or more of students and staff absent due to COVID-19. If this 10 percent threshold is met or exceeded for two consecutive weeks, the contact tracing and quarantine requirements will have to be reinstated.

Orientations:
Lemira Elementary School is excited to open its doors to students for the 2022-2023 school year. To kick off the school year, grade level orientations and the Back to School Bash will be held Thursday, August 11th. Both will occur from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Class rosters will be available and posted. In addition, the school supply wish list for the 2022-2023 school year has been posted on the school’s website and will be available at the orientation. We look forward to an exciting year of learning and growing!
Instructional Day:
The first day of school is Monday, August 15th for grades 1st through 5th. Monday, August 22nd is the first day for Prekindergarten and Kindergarten. Instruction begins daily at 7:30 a.m. for all grade levels. Students should arrive on campus no earlier than 6:50 a.m. and no later than 7:30 a.m. to avoid being tardy. Chromebooks will be used for the 2022-2023 school year. Students are encouraged to bring charged laptops to school on a daily basis. If you are in need of technical assistance, please call the school for technical support.
Schoology:
Schoology is the learning management system that all classrooms use to house classroom assignments, projects, and homework. Please check Schoology on a daily basis to stay abreast of your learner’s daily class requirements and classroom announcements.
Parent Portal:
Parent Poral is the student information system that allows parents to have real time access to their students’ grades and attendance. Please check daily to track your student’s academic and attendance progress. Link: https://powerschool.sumterschools.net/public/home.html

Office Hours:
If you are in need of assistance, office hours are from 6:50 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Drop-off/Pick-Up Procedures:
All students may be dropped off in the morning at the traffic circle in front of the school’s entrance on Fulton Street and exit on the Boulevard Road. Parents are reminded to not drop students off before 6:50 a.m. For student’s safety, parents are reminded not to drop their child off in the grassy area across the street from the school on Fulton Street. During pick-up, all car riders will be dismissed through the gate under the breezeway using their car number. Each student will be provided with numbered car tags and book bag tags. Parents arriving without a car tag number will be asked to go into the office to have their credentials verified. Parents will not be allowed to walk up to the car pick up gate to retrieve students, and students will not be permitted to cross Fulton street to walk to their rides, for safety is our number one priority. Please ensure your student is picked up no later than 2:45pm.

How can my child get a district-issued Chromebook?
• Sumter School District’s One-to-Global initiative provides a technology device for each student in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.
• Students and parents without a district-issued Chromebook may check one out during scheduled dates at their child’s home school.
• Students who are having issues with technology will be provided with avenues to contact the school media specialist or Chromebook manager for technical support. This will include issues with internet, applications, software, and technology tools.
