PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION
A Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a vital part of a school community because it can:
- The PTO works closely with the principal and teachers as a liaison between home and school. Increased involvement by parents helps to ensure successful education of our children.
- Improve the educational environment: A PTO can help create a nurturing and enriching atmosphere for students.
- Foster relationships: A PTO can help create a sense of unity and shared responsibility between parents, teachers, and school staff.
- Support students: A PTO can help promote student self-esteem and assist in solving school needs.
- Organize events: A PTO can organize family events to promote community, movie nights, and dances.
PTO ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
President
• Presides over meetings of the Executive Board
• Coordinates work of all PTO members to ensure duties are being carried out
• Represents and supports all Lemira Elementary PTO and school events
• Serves as liaison between PTO and Administration/Staff
• Coordinate and helps assist with events and functions
Vice President
• Serves on the Executive Board and attends monthly meetings
• Assumes all responsibilities including volunteering when needed, as well as other duties as called on by the PTO President
• Works closely with the PTO President, in preparation for becoming the PTO President the following year
• Represents and supports all Lemira Elementary PTO and school events
Secretary
•Serves on the Executive Board and attends monthly meetings
•Records the minutes of all PTO meetings
•Translates minutes and distributes them to Executive Board members
